Ducks taken with Cycorder & Qik
So I went ahead and "Jailbroke" (is that a word?) my iPhone 3G. Primary reason? Take video with the iPhone. Two very good ways to do this: Qik is a social website that lets users upload video from their mobile phones. The Qik app only works on jailbroken iPhones, and supposedly there's an official App Store application due soon. Quality is what you'd expect from having video taken with a mobile phone, but it's passable. Your video is actually streamed "live" to the Qik website and saved later for viewing. No actual video files are stored on your iPhone. The resulting video is only viewable/accessible on the Qik website (though you can download .flv and .3gp versions to your computer). Then there's the jailbroken app Cycorder. Better quality videos taken with your iPhone's camera that gets stored on your iPhone. You can either view the videos you take on your iPhone or transfer it to your computer at a later time.
